LCD monitors for my NLE setup - 1366x768 Vs 1440x900

Hi folks. Since this discussion wouldn't fit anywhere else here I am. I sure hope it fits here though!

I'm in the market for a pair of widescreen LCD monitors for my NLE. I'm thinking of 19 or 20 inch monitors. The last time I bought monitors they had native resolutions of 1440x900 for the 19" and 1680 x 1050 for the 20" but now the 19" designs have 1366 x 768. What's up with that? Isn't that actually LESS than what it used to be???

I'm thoroughly confused about this whole resolution business. Anyone out there care to explain how 1366 x 768 pixels are better than 1440 x 900???

I wouldn't go with anything less than 1920x1080 (or 1920x1200) in any size for desktop editing, a few 22" or 23" screens at $220 each will do the job very well.

If your system supports a 3rd output (like a dedicated DVI or HDMI output) then get a good quality screen for that signal as well. I've got an LG 20" 1920x1080 panel for the actual 'program' output, and it's balanced specifically for video.

So for $700, you can get 3 good screens and life is good.

Whatever x768 is NOT suitable for a desktop. 1280x1024 at the very, very least.
