Graphics Integration Question
 

I see People incorperate Shapes and Titles Into there projects wich seem to just slide around as they want them to. What type of program does this? Example: A pink background with a heart in the middle. Underneath the heart is the word love. The heart fades and the letters Break away from each other and slide off screen in different directions. I guess this would be graphic design? Is this hard to do without Schooling? point me in the right direction if you can?

Often, many nle providers have these canned effects as part of their package of software. Matrox is just one of many. These are applied within the timeline and will have their own program that controls the motion, opacity and 3d behaviors of the many layers that can compose an animated sequence.

That's how the hardware providers do it.

From a software perspective, a terrific value is the Adobe video collection. Here you will find premiere and most importantly, After Effects. You will also require a strong working knowledge of Photoshop. The possibilities within AE are endless.

To get comfy with photoshop, premiere and after effects, you will need to drill in using several third party training materials. Many books.

I was thinking this might be flash. is there a better program if you want flash like effects to use only on dvd videos

You can use flash and/or director to export a dv avi sequence. The reason your example that you initially referred to looks so different is likely because you saw it on a computer monitor and since flash is vector based, the shapes maintain their sharp look throughout the animation. Any NLE will do this for final delivery to dvd. The result is raster based, and won't have the precise crisp look to it.
