DIY DV chroma reconstruction?

Anyone know of a method to reconstruct (or upsample) the chroma info in DV (4:1:1) footage within After Effects?

Is there a 'trick' that can be done that wouldn't require a plugin?

Thanks!

You can't get information that isn't there in the DV signal, although there are some things you can do.

A- Chroma blur.
B- Intelligent-er chroma upsampling. One method is Graeme Nattress' method (final cut pro plug-in), which I believe also uses luminance information to make the upsampling look better.
check out nattress.com

I don't use AE but it should likely have a chroma blur filter.

I did some Google searching and a mention of Graeme's plugin is on nearly every result. LOL! I have checked out his images and explanation of how the plugin works. I am impressed with it, but it's for FCP.

How would I do a chroma blur? ie. how do I get the chroma info out, blur/upsample, and get it back in?

If there's a feature like this in AE, I am unaware of it.
