Ext. hard drives
I'm using vegas 4. Will upgrade to 5 and a fx1 in the near future. I've been using a lap top of 80GB and want to get a external Hard drive. What brands out there are reliable and great to work with for my future set up.
Thanks!! |
I've moved your post to our general forum since it has nothing
to do with editing or HDV. |
Probably get a firewire drive with the oxford 911 chipset. It's generally fast and reliable from what I can figure out.
Avoid the prolific USB2/firewire combination chipsets... they have serious problems. You can save a little money if you put together your own firewire drive. You need an enclosure and then you buy a hard drive (IDE/ATA). For the enclosure, look for: chipset cooling: either uses a noisy fan, or is aluminium and the case acts as a heatsink. some enclosures are rack-mount friendly if you like that. If you want something easy, then get a Lacie drive. |
