Info on Philips VKR-6850

Hi
I am just looking for information on one of the video cameras I own, a Philips VKR-6850. It's a really old full size VHS camcorder. It is also sometimes known as a Philips Explorer. I bought it second hand from the father of a friend of mine in 1996. He bought it new in 1987. Picture is obviously not as goos today's camera's but for a camera pushing on for 20 years old, it still does well. Never had a problem with it. It comes in a big hard case, also in pefrect condition. BTW, I am in Ireland so it's a PAL camera. I also have a Panasonic 3CCD AG-EZ1, a Sony Hi-8 V5000 and a (broken!!!) Sony Digi8 TVR110 (I think). Any info about reviews etc for the Philips would be most appreciated.

This page seems to have some information on your camera. However, it is all in Dutch. You can use the Altavista translater (http://babelfish.altavista.com) to translate it though. Most things are fairly clear.

Hope this helps!

One of my friend still have this camera. He gave it to his son for learning purposes. It's in fact identical to Panasonic NV-M7 VHS and Grundig VS170 (REPORTER) camcorder which was very popular around 15 -20 years ago, so all info on this camcorders can also apply to your Philips. ..

Thanks for that - I'll check out info on those other clone models. Can't believe it is still in such good working orders after nearly 20 years!!!

Re: Info on Philips VKR-6850

Old thread I know - almost 10 years since the last post. My Philips VKR 6850 is still in perfect working order at almost 28 years old. Only thing missing is the foam windshield otherwise she is as good as knew thanks to the great big hardcase it is kept it.
Anyone know if there is any value in these cameras these days? Doubt I'll actually sell it though!

I think someone was talking about doing a retro VHS look recently. They probably used a camera like yours.
