Camera Bags - Kata, Petrol, etc.

OK, I have a pelican for my Sony PD-150, but I also need a carrying bag that is not so bulky for certain situations.

Right now I am looking at the following (mainly because they look good and I can get them used or at a discount):

Petrol
=====
- PCUB-1 bag

- PCCB-1n bag (comes w/ rain jacket)
http://www.petrolbags.com/new_petrol...B-1/PCCB-1.htm

leaning towards the PCCB-1N of those two

KATA
=====
MC-60

BP-502
http://www.kata-bags.com/Item.asp?pi...d=1&ProdLine=1

Both come with a trolly

leaning towards the 502.

Out of all these bags, right now I am leaning towards the KATA 502 because it seems to be the most versatile, and I can wear it like a back pack, leaving my hands & arms free.

I can't find Porta Brace bags cheap enough, so for right now those are out of the question. THe other bags (Domke, Tamrac, etc.) don't seem to be as protective as these...

So, does anyone have positive/negative experiences with these bags and or manufacturers? All things being equal I think I am going to get the KATA 502. Good descision or what?

Thanks,

Alex F

I just got the petrol Mini Hood for my TRV950. I also had occasion to see their producer bag. They are very well constructed and seem to be good products. I will be at their factory next month to check out a suitable size bag for me for the TRV950

Haven't used any of those bags, but do a search on them and you may find some reviews.

Well, I went ahead and got a used PCCB-1N from B&H. I was GOING to get the KATA BP-502 since according to the latest B&H Catalog it is on special for $114.95 including the insert trolley.

However, when I called up to order, they told me that this was a mistake and that the price was $249.95, and the special was that it included their insert trolley. Later on in the catalog, where the regular item is listed, it is shown for $249 including insert troeely, so its not really a special at all! :-(

I was psyched about getting it for such a good price, and now it turns out that I am not getting it at all.

Luckily they have several used Petrol PCCB-1Ns in stock, all for $109, so I ordered one of those (I saw a sony re-branded Petrol bag recently that was bigger - it was black and had Sony & HDV embroidered on it and it was really nice!), and I got the PCUB harness accessory for the PCCB-1N so I can wear it as a backpack if needed. Total was right around $150.

I should be getting everything in the next week or so (they had to special order the PCUB harness), and I'll let everyone know what I think of it.
