Portable 12 volt power supply?
I've been testing a small LCD screen and bullet camera I purchased recently. To this point I've been using a 12 volt car charger with an power outlet. Obviously not something I'd want to carry around normally!
Can anyone recommend a portable 12V power supply unit? Perhaps something that runs on rechargeable AA batteries? Appreciate any input. |
Ikan makes a little AA 10 cell battery pack for their monitors. $25
10 AA rechargeable gives about 12v 8 non-rechargeable gives about 12v |
You can buy cheap 12V lead batteries (like the ones used in motorcycles). They work fine and have a fairly high capacity.

I use v-lok batteries so I bought one of these off e-bay:NEW V-Mount V-lock Sony Battery plate mount Broadcast on eBay (end time 03-Nov-09 20:26:39 GMT)
It has a d-tap on the side but I also added a small plastic box on the back of it to cover the cables and added two 2.1mm power sockets for domestic monitors and a video sender/receiver. |
Maybe one of these would fill the bill: bescor battery
Used their smallest one to power an on-camera LED light, never managed to run it down. / Battle Vaughan |

ikan power supplies
Just want to give you a heads up on some of the power options ikan produces. We have the AC107 that uses either Sony, Canon or Panasonic DV batteries. It retails for 69.95, and if you have a supply of DV batteries, this can be a great option. Then there is the AC103 battery box and that one is 24.95. All of these are 12 to 24 Volts. Please contact me direct at clint@ikancorp.com if you have any further questions.
