Where to get a backdrop?

I'm not too picky so any color/type will do as long as it looks ok. I need a backdrop just for a nice background when filming someone, nothing too fancy. Does anyone have any recommendations or know of a website where I can take a look?

Try B&H

Hi Jared,
Well, if you go to a store that sells fabrics for sewing, you'll probably end up with a boring solid color. A photo supply store could get you more useful backdrops used for portrait photography. For example, try B&H Photo Video | Digital Cameras, Camcorders and click on "Lighting & Studio", then "Background Materials & Equipment".

Or, just click on this link:
Background Materials & Equipment | B&H Photo Video

Good luck
Ken

Thanks for the links. I came across this

New 10 X 20 ft Grey Muslin Photo Backdrop Background - eBay (item 170290615343 end time Oct-25-09 20:16:25 PDT)

Think it'll be worth it?

If you have coloured gels, that grey muslin will take coloured light nicely. I've done that about a MILLION times (not that I exaggerate) for corporate and TV interviews. It HELPS if you can get far enough away from the muslin with your camera (and subject) to throw it out of focus.

Actually I just read a post where someone who tried some. She said you could see right through them and that they were terrible. I guess I'll have to bump up my original budget to at least $100.

Stay With Reputable Company

Jared, in addition to the two I listed above take a look at B&H website (B&H Photo Video | Digital Cameras, Camcorders) and do a search for "background". On "Relevance" pick price-low to high and start scrolling.

Interfit listings include several colors/designs in 10x10 for $54.95.

B&H sets the "gold standard" for integrity in dealings with customers, I just spent $1700 on a Canon 7D body and didn't worry a bit. This is just the latest order.

They have to order the background so you'll have a bit of a wait. The price is low enough so you don't have a large investment and if it's a bit thin, place your background stands near a wall or hang it on that wall.
