camera rental insurance and personal equipment insurance

Hi,
Are there any insurance companies out there that you can recommend for equipment rental insurance on rented equipment. Also, how about on my own personal equipment? thanks in advance.

Schedule it on your homeowners or rental insurance.

Not sure how it works outside of Canada but here your homeowners/renters insurance WILL NOT cover professional gear ESPECIALLY if transported from your home. Consult an insurance agent for a definitive answer in YOUR jurisdiction. ANY other answer is asking for trouble when you need it most.

If it's professionally used gear, then it's probably best to get business insurance. Most homeowner's insurance excludes items used commercially.

There are a variety of companies that write "marine" insurance, which covers you against loss or damage. Mine, which I get through The Hartford, also carries a $25K rider for rental gear I pick up. It's generally a requirement in most rental houses, before they'll let you leave with the gear.

Unfortunately, it's not cheap. But then, it's a business expense, and less expensive than writing a check to cover your own loss if someone decides they want your gear more than you do.
