xl1s vs dvx

hi I'm new in the forum and I'm asking if it is better a pana dvx 100a
or a xl1s + manual 14x lens? I live in italy so the dvx pal don't have the 24p option! many thanks to all

You may find the following review helpful:
Sony HDV FX1 vs. DVX100a vs. Canon XL2

Of course this is with the XL2 and you asked about the XL1s, but it should be of some use to you.

Unless you need the capability to change lens (which cost thousands of dollars), or want to use the expensive mini-35 adapter (also $$$), the DVX100A is usually the choice of most indie filmmakers.

The XL1s and DVX100A have totally different ergonomics. Many would say this is as important a factor as any technical feature. You are best served by actually testing both cameras yourself before you buy.
