PC Equivalent of Apple Color

I'm currently using Adobe Premiere and After Effects for color correction (PC) with Colorista.

Is this the best setup that PC has to offer for color correction?

Is there a PC equivalent of Apple Color?

None at anything like the price point of Color - Color was previously a $15,000 application called Final Touch. No one else other than Apple is handing out their grading tools with their editing software.

Reason Apple can and does is because they are making money on both the software and hardware.

Other companies offer turn key solutions for PCs (usually built on top of linux) and the costs are generally a lot higher.

I have not used a PC in for video in a while, but as far as I understand, your set up is about top of the line as far as coloring on PC goes.

You may want to look a bit deeper. Start at the Autodesk web page.

Final Touch had two prices: $5,000 for the HD version. $25,000 for the 2k version.

Apologies Dean, I misremembered.

At any rate, certainly a lot more than what it is in the Apple Bundle.

Craig... you recalled the average price. :-)

Or is that the median price?

Either way it was the one thing that spurred me to get the FCS upgrade.

First Light

Also, you might want to look at First Light, included with many Cineform products.

Color Finesse 2. I use it instead of Color on the Mac because I can stay within Final Cut. It doesn't have shapes, but has about everything else Color does.

FWIW, Color Finesse 2 comes included with After Effects CS4 for PC, probably would do the job for you... / Battle Vaughan
