HDV Mini-DV vs DSLR Upgrade???
Hey everyone,
I'm looking for advice on whether to sell my Canon XH-A1 HDV camera and move either to one of the new tapeless cameras like JVC's GY-HM100u or using my exsisting inventory of canon lenses move the the new DSLR HD recording platform and it's capabilities. Any thoughts or experience would be appreciated. AKDVGUY |
What do you need this cam for? What audio quality do you need? Shooting long sequences or short ones?
And then, will your computer handle the hard-to-edit AVCHD? Or are you upgrading that too? You need to give out more info in order to get good advice. |
I shoot everything from short family video's and events to eventually getting to short films. I'm not opposed to updating my computing platform. I currently have 2 Macs. The one I primarily use is a Macbook Pro, duo core, with 2 gigs of RAM and FCP Studio.
I like the portability of the DSLR but there something about having a more professional looking rig that makes customers feel a little more at ease. |
Unless you're unhappy with the quality of your video, I'd stay with the A1.

I agree with Ervin. Stick with the A1 and maybe buy a T2i to use as a 'b' camera and to play around with.

Thanks guys! I appreciate your input.
