Lens Flare

I know a lot of the time most of you probably want to avoid lens flare, but let's say, hypothetically, that for aesthetic purposes you want one on purpose. Are there any tricks to consider (i.e. angle of the sun relative to the camera lens, etc.)?

In most cases you can easily add it in in post with a plugin, and would probably be better off doing so (that way if you don't like the flare you can just remove it :P), but let's just say I don't want to do that for whatever reason. What would be the best way to go about it?

I don't really intend on using this technique in the immediate future, I just think it would be an interesting thing to know about. Just curiosity really lol

Go outside with the camera and play around....the camera will tell you what angle it needs to be at!

Yes angle to light will come into play, but if you have older uncoated lenses they tend to flair much faster than multi-coated lenses.

Good Luck!

Usually shooting with the sun in back of the subject will do it.

But as much as you want to avoid lens flare .. when you do get it it's hard to control live .. other than re positioning or reframing to get rid of it.

Cheers.
