What is Canon doing, standing still or ?

Canon seems to be wobbling a bit. The photokina show was lackluster at best. The 60D announced long before the show even started. Now the XLH1S and XLH1A lines are discontinued at both B & H and NewEgg. There have been a few October announcements in the past, but so far there has been no noise or hint of anything from the Canon Camp. Yes the XF300 and 100 series are here but does this mean the end of shoulder mount ? Has the middle of the road camcorder changed forever ? I am a big fan of shoulder mount cameras and would hate to see them go. While all of this is happening we see some very interesting experiments by canon, a 120 megapixel APS-H sensor and a video camera with 60 fps that is 4 times the resolution of full HD. Are we going to be witnessing an extreme change in the imaging industry ? Has Canon slowed forward progress because of the economy or changing technology or is something in the pipeline ? Only time will tell.

I don't think they're wobbling. Canon has always been like this, slow and steady. They're not doing anything different now.

Michael is right, there hasn't been any change to the frequency of
new cameras from Canon. They've *always* been slow and steady
and it's no different now than it has been in the past.

Anybody who attended Canon Expo in New York last month and
saw all of the future of imaging exhibits that were there, can attest
to the fact that they're not "standing still." See especially my article
on their UHD concept camera, linked above in Pete's post.
