Datavideo SE-500 tbar question

I am "upgrading" from a Videonics MX Pro, new cameras are XHA1s' and most of the performances I'll shoot not are 16:9 and the SE-500 handles this nicely, with a much better quality image (for live analog switching)

Wondering how the concept of of using the RS-232 Remote Control actually works? I am just wanting to be able to switch with one button, and perhaps change the speed. Thats about it. Anyone using this technique ?

Thanks
