What used standard definition video camera to replace Optura Xi?

I shoot standard definition video on an Optura Xi and edit it on an old Windows XP computer with Vegas 5. I have HD capable still cameras, but I still have a need to shoot and edit SD video for the web without having to convert HD to SD.

My Optura Xi is getting old and I'd like to replace it with something. I know some of Canon's Vixia HD camcorders allow HD>SD conversion in-camera, but I don't know if that converted SD video is compatible with Vegas 5.

It would be nice if I could get a standard definition camcorder that recorded to flash memory AND had quality color, low light, and optical stabilization.

I'd like something that records to memory cards to avoid buying something with dirty heads.

So, did Canon (or any other brand) ever make a camcorder that fits this description before going HD?
