Back-up camera, DSR390 or TM900

What would be a better choice of camera as a backup for a EX3, a DSR390 or TM900?

Thanks in advance.

Depends, what are you delivering the material as? If 4:3 SD the DSR-390 is good to go, if it is 16:9 SD or even HD I would not use the DSR-390 to be honest..

It would be 16x9.

The DSR390 is an excellent camera it produces stunning pictures but as you say its 4x3.

I want a backup camera to my EX3, you never know what can go wrong.

I have a DSR390 and thought this is a great backup even though its 4:3. Its better than nothing but only thought would the TM900 be a better choice?

What camera would I prefer to use if something happened my EX3 part way through a wedding. (it happened to me before, faulty SxS card)

Pull out a DSR 390 and carry on ...or a TM900.
The DSR 390 looks the part and am sure nobody would notice the difference in camera size but if i had to fall back to a TM900 it might be more noticeable

Only thinking ahead.

Dont worry about what it looks like Tony, the results, as you have seen from the TM900 are amazing. Its so easy to use, has good manual controls, in short it gets the job done. I have now used my TM900 on 4 weddings, including my own son's. Last Saturday, and previously, at my sons wedding I used it extensively, I used far more footage from the TM900 than from my EX1 on both these weddings. I am considering buying another TM900, I think they really are that good.

Thanks Colin,

Your are aright, its the end product that matters most and all the clips I've seen from this TM900 prove that.
Did you go into the setting and change much Colin or did you just use it as it was, out of the box?

If your thinking of getting another one, that speaks for itself.

Thanks for your advice.

Turned the the detail down a couple, and colour down by 1. Adjusted the LCD quite a bit to get it as close as I could for TV replay. Cant do much with the VF, its very oversaturated, but you only have brightness control on it. Its very subjective I know, but its an easy cam to adjust to your own preference. But the bottom line is picture quality. WOW

I still have some footage from DSR390 :)
it is a no brainer - TM900

So Buba, would you say the TM900 will produce a better over all picture than the 390?
