Lithium ion batteries got wet
 

I had two batteries for a pd-170 in a case in my car. The floor somehow got wet. I'm not sure how. They weren't submerged, but there was enough water to waterlog the spines of a few books that were down there with it. I'm not sure whether the batteries got water inside although I suspect it may be the case. The batteries were wet on the outside. I"m not sure how long they may have been exposed to the water.
Safe to plug in to the charger and see if they charge? I'm concerned. And these were my only two good batteries. One was brand new, never used, only charged.
one was a sony 960, the other new one was an off-brand that is supposedly equivalent.

Personally, I wouldn't trust them. What could go wrong? Well, they could rupture (bad!), short out your charger (bad), catch fire (REALLY bad), or work properly for now (good).

I don't like those odds, given the (relatively) low investment cost involved.

I'm concerned because these are my only batteries (the other two died recently), and I really don't have the funds to replace them just yet. Too many bills. Is there any option? I am not sure if they got wet inside or not. What's the chance they are a fire risk?

I don't have any silica packets but I'll try the rice.
That casing looks pretty tight. If moisture got in there I"mnot sure if it will find its way out.
Mostly I'm concerned about a fire hazard.
Ok, let's see if this works. Here goes.

Forgot to post back, but the battery is working properly and holding charge.
