over exposure problem :(
 

First off, my equipment is a Canon T2i with a Nikon 28mm f2.8.

I keep having the problem of over exposing and not even knowing it. I adjust the image using the camera monitor and it looks great! but when I get it back home...the whites are way blown out.

Solution?

What software are you using?

Also if you play the video directly from the camera into a monitor via the HDMI port is the footage still blown out??

The problem is that when I view the footage live from the on camera monitor, it looks great. But when I open the file just straight from the folder on my computer it looks way blown out.

What software are you using to view the files in the computer?

Here is what I suggest. Connect the camera to an external monitor and play back the files from the memory card. See if they are blown out. If not its a software issue in the computer.

Not all software correctly handles the highlights from these cameras. They record whites that are above the normal "legal" values for white.

I was having the same problem with my 7d. looked great on camera but highlights blown on PC. was using adobe cs5

As for the t2i,
With magic lantern you can activate zebras and set the sensitivity of them.
Could be one way to work around it.

I think what is going on here is a calibration issue. The lens was just not ceeded well with the body. These adapters are terrible. I never had the problems I have now when I was using modern Canon lenses.

I started a thread about a year ago talking about vintage lenses and everyone raved about how much better they are in terms of glass and build...but when it comes down to it, they are a pain in the butt.
