PC questions on firewire

I have a lap top. Will need a ext hard drive. Problem is I only have one firewire. I would like to have two one for the hard drive and one for the deck to capture footages. What are my options and what are the best set ups out there.

Thanks

If your laptop has a CardBus/PC Card expansion slot you could get a Firewire expansion card. See http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...6996&Ne=300743 for some examples.

You could use the firewire for capture and USB for hard drive. USB2 has been working great for me.

I'm on the Mac, but a couple months ago I picked up a cardbus firewire 400 PC card for my Powerbook. The specs say it works on both the Mac and Windows - the brand is DYNEX and model is DX-FC202. Got it at Best Buy for $30, so you don't have a whole lot to lose if you want to give it a try. I've used it for the exact thing you describe and it works great on the Mac.
