Video Mixer Software for Live Streaming?

Hi,

Our nonprofit is looking for video mixing software that will send the output to a software encoder for live streaming, unless the product we want can do all in one mixing, encoding, and streaming.

All we need to do is fade back and forth between a still image and an HDMI signal from a camera. We'll also have a stereo audio signal going in to the encoder. Currently we use a Blackmagic capture card in a HTPC and Kulabyte, but it's possible we may have to get a different box since we'll be switching streaming companies.

What would be the best software to do this that's also a cost effective solution? I did a bit of looking around and Telestream Wirecast seems to be pretty good for this without being too expensive.

Let me know, thanks!

I like wirecast! I'm using it with a Blackmagic Designs Intensity capture card, and used to do a lot of firewire capture with it too.

Do check out the trial version and see if it works for you.

Unless you have just a small handful of viewers, streaming distribution is going to need to be done outside your encoding box.

One good thing that you've probably realized - if you build a box on a standard PC using a software encoder it's upgradeable when you want it to be, and can create just the stream you want. Many dedicated systems are more limited in their capabilities. As a boutique webcaster, that means a lot to me; I have to integrate my services into many clients' infrastructures.

For you it may be different - all-in-one streaming boxes do offer a high level of integration and ease of use.

Thanks Seth for the recommendation. We've been using a different set up for the time being, but I'll keep Wirecast in mind if this crops up again.
