Regarding super slo mo in iMovie

Hi.

Beginner/Intermediate in editing, but have become quite familiar with iMovie. I know anybody can get super smooth slo mo by shooting at 120 or higher fps (obviously).

But my camera will only shoot at 60p. I have a utility that will convert that 60 fps to half-speed 30 fps, and I can slow that further in iMovie, but I'm not getting the nice smooooooth slo mo I see in some videos. Shot at 60 fps, I'm still getting pretty stilted slo mo in my tests...

Have I come to the limit of 60 fps? Is there (Mac) software that will allow HD video shot at 60p to become silky smooth slo mo in iMovie?

These are my limiting factors: iMovie 11 & 60p. Otherwise, I'm open to all ideas.

Thanks,
Darryl

Re: Regarding super slo mo in iMovie

Not in iMovie. There are two options: Either shoot at a higher frame rate, or use a plugin specifically for this purpose.

Shooting at a higher frame rate requires a different camera. A plugin that does what you want is Twixtor. It works with a bunch of editing programs, but not iMovie. Here's a compatibility list: RE:Vision Effects, Inc. : Products: Twixtor
