Issues with Vimeo?

I was wondering if anyone else was having issues uploading to Vimeo. About 2 weeks ago I noticed it started taking a lot longer to upload a video. The videos are the same length with the same compressor settings. I thought that it could be my internet service provider but i called them and they said everything was fine. I have been sitting on the upload starting bar now for 7 hours and no progress has been made. Any ideas or suggestions? What is the best way to contact Vimeo? I do have the PRO account. Thanks

Have you tried a different browser?

Seven hours sounds extreme! Have you reset your router/modem with the usual power down/power up trick?

Re: Issues with Vimeo?

If I recall, IE (Microsoft Internet Explorer) can only handle files of up to a certain size – Firefox and Google Chrome will do better with that. It’s been a while since I uploaded huge files – I don’t remember the file size limit – maybe 1 gig?

Anyway, I let my Vimeo Pro subscription renew, but really more out of support for the site and the creative users than for myself personally. Last I was uploading to it I had endless hang-ups and failures to upload no matter what I used for a browser, etc. Finally, I think I just gave up on it.

Great site though and I applaud all of the talent on there. Some incredibly creative work.

Re: Issues with Vimeo?

Can Vimeo uploads be made via FTP? I've just had a quick Google and found people asking about it, but did not find an answer. But ISTM that FTP would both faster and more reliable.

I use IE all the time and have uploaded files up to 2 GB in size.

Re: Issues with Vimeo?

I've actually abandoned Vimeo as the searchable nature of YouTube now that it is part of the GoogleSphere makes it a no-brainer for me, sadly.

Just relaying my experience. Possibly resolved in IE9, but has definitely been an issue in the past:

Upload limits for Internet Eplorer, Mozilla firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, IIS and ASP. Article
