Stereo Video Camcorder footage
 

I do video conversions and just received a flashcard used in a stereo video camera. My client does not know the name of that camcorder and also that camera is NOT available to borrow, so I cannot use it's software to make this conversion to make a dvd. The problem is, the video was shot with one lens trained on an "out the windshield" view from a race car and the other lens was 'mirrored' to show the driver of that race car driving. When played back on most media players, you see only the driver driving and have no way to see what the other lens has shot, but when played on the VLC media viewer, there are two screens open and you see each view at the same time. That's okay for viewing on a computer, but you can't do that on a dvd without special software editing. So, my question is, does anybody have any idea how these two views can be separated so they can be put side by side in an editing program? Or is there an edit program that might do both??

Might have more luck down in the 3D section.

I know dropping stereoscopic footage from the TD10/NX3D1 into a 2D project in Sony Vegas (Pro 10) separates the video files out into two 2D streams. Not sure if it'd work for the footage you have, that doesn't sound like any of the 3D Sony cameras.

It might also be JVC footage if L and R are in a single file. I think Edius can work with the Sony footage and I know it works with JVC footage.

Don't like purchasing software that may or may not work and I don't think the client wants to foot the bill. I don't think I'm ever going to get this request again. Never the less, I'll see about a trial download, just to see if it's possible.
