When I plug my camera into the outlet, the picture on a display becomes brighter

I am not sure if the picture is brighter only on a display or in a recorded footage too. I dndnt check it yet. Why is this happening? :)

On most cams there is a battery vs AC power mode to save battery power. This is only for the VF display and will not affect your recordings.

But it affect my judgement :)
I looked at the menu and power save is set to "off". Maybe thats something that cant be turned off.

Hi Peter

Could you let us know exactly what camera you are asking about? It would be helpful in getting you an answer.

Re: When I plug my camera into the outlet, the picture on a display becomes brighter

Most mains adapters output 8.2volts (for charging and Mains supply) compared to the 7.2 volts that the battery supplies. I would have thought that all cameras would have very complex voltage regulator circuits built into the main boards so the higher voltage when running on AC power would not affect anything

I've never tried my Sony's on the AC adapter but on my older Panasonics there was certainly no difference between mains and battery even on the LCD. Most LCD's use a 5 volt supply and the main camera board would supply this to the LCD so the incoming voltage is not important,

If the difference is really noticeable then I would worry that the camera's voltage regulators are not working correctly. Might be worth checking the output voltage from the adapter with a multimeter and make sure that it's sending out the same voltage as the specs say??
