"Madison"-movie

Hey boys and girls

I dont know if you know me, but my name is Joey Bertran and i have done a few projects in the past that you might have seen. (both unofficial Comeback Kid video's for Lorelei and Wake the Dead)

Anyways, a couple of my friends and i just finished this new short film entitled MADISON, and would really like to hear some of your feedback on it.

The link for the video is down, it will be up shortly.

That's a dead link, Joey.

But I'll do you a turn and post the right one.

One more thing, Joey. I downloaded it and my up-to-date quicktime says that it's "missing software needed to view" the movie.

Maybe you could check that. Re-encode or something.

Well done! What camera did you guys use? It looked like HDV.

EDIT :: I'd also like to comment on your camera angles, very professional!

Joey,
nice work. i too think it was probably shot on HDV. what ever the camera is,at low light it added up a lot of noise esp on the tracks at night.
as jesse said, nice camera angles, and the girl was all natural in her act.
BTW, what did you use to compress it.

Wish I could see it.

What codec did you use?...so that I can install it.

Joey Bertran October 15th, 2005 01:52 AM

Hey guys,
thanks for the replies. im glad you enjoyed it.
the video was actually shot on the dvx100 and one scene was shot on the XL2(the scene when Sid sees the guy at the boardwalk during the day time).

im not sure how it was compressed because i did not do that drew compressed it but ya.

We submitted it to sundance in sept. im not sure if it will get in but you never know, it might have the potential.

Does anyone else have trouble seeing it?

Very nice. Some observations:

Very nice use of cutting on action and inserts.
Very nice camera handling.
BG blown out in resturant needed to be skrimmed from the outside (same with a few other shots).
Sound needs a bit of work.

Is this your first film? I see you had Benny Hill's old editor on it as a DP.

Joey Bertran October 16th, 2005 10:08 PM

this was my fourth of fifth film at the time
but ya it was a nice learning experience you could say

Its encoded H.264, AAC Stereo 48KHz, 853x480... So you must have Quicktime 7 or some other app that supports H.264
