Shooting in an Airport
Hi
Im doing a documentary, I'm following a subject from Hong Kong to Japan. We will be traveling through the HK airport and Tokyo airport....I wanted to shoot in the terminal and the on the plane. Do I need permits or permission? Thanks |
Re: Shooting in an Airport
Unless you are filming on a phone, you will definitely need permission to shoot in an airport and as a matter of courtesy I would check with cabin crew on any flight..

Re: Shooting in an Airport
Please don't say "shooting in an airport".

Re: Shooting in an Airport
I flew into the U.S. via Miami International last year, and apart for 3 cameras and various batteries in my backpack, I also had a table top tripod that folds up into an L shape. It went through the security scanner and was put aside while a security person mentioned that there was an odd shaped object in my bag that they were suspicious about. I said that there was a mini tripod that looks a bit gun shaped in silhouette that I use for shooting from table tops. She immediately waved over two burly armed security guys who insisted I completely unpacked the bag while they watched me closely. It ended with laughs and a handshake and they said to never mention the words gun or shooting at an airport, you can never be too careful.

Re: Shooting in an Airport
hahaha, the "filming" in the airport actually went alright.
apparently in Hong Kong and Okinawa, no one cares if you're a one man crew with a C300. I just went with the mentality, film until someone tells you not to. airport authorities didn't mind at all |
