Best Mac program for DVC archive transfer?

I no longer edit professionally, I wasn't a shrewd enough businessman and got ripped off too many times, however. I have around sixty DV cassettes full of personal footage and memories that I want to transfer to .mov files for editing as a hobby.

The last time I did this was years ago and I was using the old iMovie which would automatically split clips as they imported so I didn't end up with one hour long clip per cassette which would obviously be a nightmare to edit.

That version of iMovie and also FCP7 are now obsolete and I have a new laptop.

What would be the most DV friendly software to invest in to back up my old tapes?

Regards

CP
