The Brooklyn Boys

Hey there folks!

I recently was gaffer (togheter with someone else that is) on a short called the brooklyn boys. Please check it out at www.thebrooklynboys.com and take a look in the gallery where you can see some stills of the short, and there is also one pic of me measuring the light with my light meter (as if you measure the light in a way i did in the pic but hey it looked cool :-D ).
Please Critique!

Hey Bryan!

Sure looks interesting. I see it was shot next to where I live
almost. Fun. I hope they put up a trailer of some sort shortly,
that would be fun!

Any anecdotes about the shoot?

Cheers!

I agree with Rob, Bryan. Looks worth a look. I also second the "anecdotes" request.

It was a short shoot, only 3 days. And we had a very limited lighting package, so limited that sometimes, I would turn into the..... HUMAN FLAG! :0)
And oh boy was it cold out there! No heating system, so everytime when we stopped shooting I would turn on a small electric radiator (which we couldn't leave on because of its humming sound) or I'd step into a light trying to warm myself. For the rest it was a fun shoot, nice and good people to work with (Except for the evil AD!). The director was very nice and had a good sense of what he visually wanted but the problem was that i would get strange converstations like :
Director : "Bryan, could you go ahead and try to create a line of light there?"
Me : "A what???"
Director : "A stripe of light, so the contrast will look a bit lower"
Me : "And what's the motivation behind this?"
Director : "Just because it looks pretty!"
Me : "Ehm, Wha.., errr, ok I'll do it!

So then i went ahead and just cut the key light in half right on the actors face by request from the director. Now the question floating around in the viewer's head will be... "What's cutting that light through half over there?" :-)
