Countdown clock
 

I'm designing a logo incorporating a countdown clock. (some of you may have read my post a few days ago enquiring about colour bars. I think I'm switching to a countdown clock now instead of bars. Reads more as "film" as opposed to "video" ;-) )

Anyway, I just thought I'll get some opinions. I like how the image is coming along except for trying to decide what number to use in the clock image. It makes sense to use the numeral "one", I mean who wants to be second or third, or… You get the idea. However, what is stupidly bugging me is how one never sees "one" in the countdown clock, pops at 2 and then black before the film begins.

Or am I being stupid. Now one is going to make a big deal about it. Just put it down to just creative licence.

Thoughts please.

If you have Premiere it has a built in clock that is more or less
"standard"... I bet most other NLE's will have them too!

So THAT's what happened to the "one" in the countdown -- you swiped it for your logo!

You miss-understand. I'm creating a custom countdown clock for a logo. What I'm asking is peoples opinion on using the numeral "one" in the clock image, since "one" is replaced by black in real countdown clocks. Can I put this down to creative licence, or does it just look wrong. Or am I just being anal.

I might have partially misunderstood, but you might still be able
to use some of that... anyways... I think the one is missing
(where there is black) to reduce the chance of error, if people
start a transmission a bit early you won't see a countdown but
a black screen... Just my thought though. Everyone seems to
do it. Even when going life in a TV show they loose the 1 when
verbally counting down (and I've seen them drop the two as
well). Probably not to be heard if anyone hits the button to
go to air a tad early.
