Does UV has any affect on a CCD

Hi,

I'm looking to find out if UV-light has any affect on a CCD chip? I've googled around for it. Some says it does - some don't.

So I'm looking to get responses from pro users here. Prefferably with a technical argumentation/description.

Thanks!

I think spectral response is going to be camera dependent because of additional filtering that may be applied in front of the ccd. I would start by looking at the spectral response of the ccd in a given camera, followed by an analysis of the filtering applied to the ccd using the spectral data for the filter(s). (The ccd data is more than likely to be found on the ccd manufacturers web site.) E.g. there was a story in the news of a Sony camera seeing through clothing due to the IR not being filtered. They reportedly added IR filtering in front of the ccd. Next thing to determine is the mapping of invisible spectra. For one, as the frequency varies from R,G,B, so does the focus since the refractive index of glasses varies with frequency. Interesting question.
