ESPN look in live setting

I really like the look of the ESPN studio when the talent is in front of a large wide screen monitor. I am looking for tips, tricks to simulate this type of set-up at a live seminar. How do I deal with sync issues since I am shooting the monitor? Monitor will be fed by a laptop with power point. What type of lighting would you use? Any comments will be helpful.

If you use a CRT type screen you need to use a shutter speed of 1/60. Some cameras have a named mode for this i think.

LCD's dont have this problem

Canon's Clear Scan allows you to tweak the actual frequency to match the CRT.

I don't know what it's called in other cams.
