Holy cow... That looks almost "alien". Very nice pictures on that
site! I gotta see this once in my liftetime for real

Frank Granovski February 16th, 2003 07:14 PM

Sorry Bill. That's the link Greg had posted. Greg said that it only works with Windows Media.

I think it's because of the 2 WWW's in the addy. It starts to go correctly than gets redirected.
It sure is a beautifull thing to see. But I'm not sure about standing around in the -20 weather to watch up close.

John Locke February 17th, 2003 04:22 AM

Really beautiful! Looks like you're inspiring a few people to head to Alaska to see this in person.

Thanks for sharing it.

"It sure is a beautifull thing to see. But I'm not sure about standing around in the -20 weather to watch up close."
-20 is almost summer weather, try -40 to -50.

What setting should one use to shoot Aurora Borealis (which by the way is Latin for Light, Northern) with a miniDV camcorder?
We rarely see the phenomenon where I live, but a friend of mine up North complains that it is impossible to shoot it, because the light is so faint.

Zac Stein February 17th, 2003 10:36 AM

On a more important note, where did you find that incredibly pornographic sounding music? I want some for a production i am doing.

Zac

Tor, I would think you'd have to drop the shudder speed way down to get the norther lights to show up much since they are so faint. There shouldn't be a problem of blurry motion since they don't change very fast (I believe most of Greg's video is sped up).
