Mic for my camera
 

Hi everyone, im new, so wanna first say hi to you all.

I have a canon MV690 DV cam. i need to get a mic for it but have no idea which mic i can get for it.

i am using the camera to interview people and would like the best possible quality mic.

Can someone please help and advise me please??

Mark, some info to consider will be the type of application in which you will be needing to capture sound. You said 'interviews', however you will also need to consider other factors such as:

environment - noisy, quiet, indoor, outdoor, closeup, distance

mic style - hand-held, lav body mic, wired, wireless, etc

quality - durability, s/n ratio, response sculpting, roll-off or gain control, etc

accessories - shock mounts, socks, etc.

connectivity - what type of connection does your camera, take, and if you need to make adjustments such as adaptors, or dedicated audio capture solutions, what type of options are you willing to consider?

budget - how much are you willing to spend, and what is the most practical/effective mic in your budget range.

The Now Hear This forum is packed solid with info and threads in all of these areas, so feel free to do a little browsing.

Sorry, this gives your more questions to consider than answers to your dilemma, but doing some additional homework first will be a strong benefit to whatever audio issues you are likely to face.

Lots of info in the 'Now Hear This' forum for that mic. i think you'll like it - ive been using mine for over a year and am very happy with it.
All you need is for your cam to have a MIC IN socket and a coldshoe to mount it.
