buying used crt/ sceen burn

I came across a couple of viewsonic graphics 17" crts in the newspaper. I currently have duel monitor support and own a viewsonic and a mitsubishi crt. When they are side by side it is obvious that they have different screen appearences, color, height, picture quality. I thought of maybe buying one of the viewsonics in the newspaper , so I would have a matching pair basically.
I asked the guy about any screen burn, he didn't seem to give me much input on that, his reply was the monitors were used and he didn't know how old they were. Which doesn't answer my question.
What would you look for in a used monitor if you were me? How much screen burn is to much?

Sometimes old monitors can have other problems like convergence, out of focus, calibration out of whack (and the monitor doesn't let you fix it), etc. Best thing to do is to see the monitor.

I don't think screen burn is usually that much of a problem, unless the monitor is really old.

screen burn is not an issue anymore. has not been for 10+ years.

I've seen black&white broadcast monitors with noticeable screen burn... you can clearly read the writing off. However, that's a special case since most people don't have certain text in the same position on their monitors all the time.
