Right time to buy an XL1s?
 

I have been working for the past year and a half with a XL1s and recently a Panasonic, and was thinking of buying myself a nice XL1s but with the war looming and the recesion is it a good time to invest on such equipment?

Looming military conflict and the world's economy are really not material considerations in such a decision. Prices may fluctuate due to currency exchange rate changes but not generally violently. (Admittedly, though, I don't know what the inflation situation is in Panama.) Your personal situation should be the most significant economic concern.

I do, however, advise waiting until after the NAB Show in early April. That's when new camera models are often introduced. New models can affect your selection as well as the prices of current camera models which may be discontinued. I've no knowledge of any impact on the XL1S but, if possible, I'd wait until the dust settles from that show.

Just to let you know, the XL1s here with a good price cuz im a good costumer its 4450.00 US $. Ill wait til April and see about what NAB does. Thanks!

wow. that's a lot of coin for an older camera.

If I was in the market for a camera and needed one asap, I'd spring for a dvx100 from zotz. considering last I saw it being sold for less than US$3400!

But I already have a souped up XL1 w/ 14x lens and wide angle adapters. (Which I might be selling in a few weeks, as I need coin for another project which will NOT be shot on *ugh* miniDV.)

And to chime in a 'me-too,' if you aren't in a rush, then sit back and wait a bit more, at least till after NAB which is just a few weeks off.
