Dubbing on mini DV question

When I dub from my Canon ZR45 to Canon GL1, I hit record on GL1, they play on ZR45, and everything works fine. The GL1 automatically just sucks in what is playing on the ZR45 ( I have firewire connecting)

But dubbing to the ZR45 is problem. the ZR45 just keeps recording live. Anything I'm missing? thanks.

Does the ZR45 have a menu option for setting either the direction of the Firewire transfer or the source (live vs. external)?

JOhn I don't think there is anything in the manual about that, ie, dubbing.

But I don't there was anything in the GL1 manual either about that, maybe I'm wrong, With GL 1, had it on play, strangely enough, and hit record and it started dubbing. anyone else?? thanks
