Sony HDR-HC3 vs Canon HV-10

I got the Sony, which is actually a few hundred bucks more,--based on great reviews -- but guy at a store today was saying he prefers the Canon for it's IS. The stead shot that Sony uses seems pretty good, but curious what others think. Is this issue alone worth exchanging for the Sony? any other comments? thanks.
This is for small side projects.

I bought the Canon because I have an XLH1, and wanted to use the hv10 as a viewing and capturing deck(it plays back 24f and 30f in addition to 60i).I discovered that it's also agreat camera. The main drwaback is tht it has no access to audio and no headphone jack.
I used it as third camera at a HDV concert shoot and on a Pilates instuctional dvd, and it ciyts well with my H1 and Sony FX1.All in all, i really like it.Oh...you also need some kind of stabilizer due to its' small size. I bought the "great little ideas" kit( iforget where I found it, but it's on the stabilizer forum here) for $39 and it works well.
I don't know anything about the Sony.

thanks Bruce, please send link to that kit.

I decided to stay with Sony, if for no other reason, I read that Canon put the mike in the rear of the camera!
