Cleaning Lenses and Filters.
 

I am just in the process of cleaning my filters and lenses (mostly filters actually...)

I am using lens tissue and cleaner from the photo store, nothing crappy or cheap...

I put a little drop on the paper and then rub in big circles.

However, there still seems to be a little film on the filter that doesn't seem to come off... any tips in this area?

This topic has been covered. Use the search button to aid in locating the information you need. I use a micro fiber cloth. They can be used wet or dry. In my experience most people don't rub hard enough. They somehow think they'll scratch their expensive filter if they rub too hard. Only a drop or two of fluid is needed. Most people soak the lens tissue and just move the fluid around until it evaporates. Use a dry tissue or two to finish with, polishing your filter. If need be breath a little on the filter surface and rub some more, in a circular direction.

Your welcome, sorry didn't mean to scold, more remind, about the search function. I know some of the answers are well hidden and not easy to find. One of our goals is to add a FAQ to each forum. Hopefully we'll have it together by this summer.

you might try mikros cloth...i use it on all of my lenses and filters with great success...i find it works great without any fluid.

"Lens pen" cleaning is the best I know . No risidues.

I will look into both of those suggestions as well.

Just to add..., all I do is blow hard, to remove the dust and dirt, then I breathe hard to steam it up and quickly wipe it with an optical cleaning cloth. This works fine!

That's what I usually do but it's getting this look to it like a little oil slick when it dries. That's what's weird.

My pack includes a fibrecloth, cleaning paper, cleaning solution, and a lenspen.

Chris, Optex makes a lens pen like that, practically identical and can be found at most photography stores. I think the pen is the best cleaning tool in my kit. The bristles are also excellent for getting small particles out from crevices in the camera's body.
