Anyone know where to get sounds for videos?
I am a hobbyist and am looking for dramatical sound effects for my videos. Things like short musical bits that are a few seconds long and can be added to scenes to add drama or humor to a video. It's a little bit difficult to descibe a sound I want with words, but does anyone have any recommendations of websites to look into or CDs for sale? Thanks

A good website for sound effects is FindSounds.com

Sounds for Video
I've used the HulaBear collection for a year now, and as a hobbyist, have yet to run out of useful material. They're quite inexpensive compared to most - www.hulabear.com

I was going to recommend Findsounds, but I see Adrian beat me to it :p
There are also lots of good sound effects over at Flashplanet. They're meant for use in Macromedia Flash so they're not really high quality but it's acceptable for most uses. |
Alternatively, there's this one: http://www.sounddogs.com/start.asp

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Are these royalty and "truly" free sounds?

Go to www.soundideas.com As a production director this has been my favorite choice when buying music and sound effects.
Also you can check out this other sites: www.musicbakery.com (buyout) www.sound7.com (buyout) www.networkmusic.com (license fee) Hope this can help. Cheers! Alexis |
I checked out Hulabears, and was pretty impressed by the prices. Then, i read the legal stipulations- the music is royalty free, but only for home video, powerpoint presentations, etc. Anything you planned on broadcasting would violate the agreements. I hate fineprint!
