How do I use a 1394 input on a laptop?

How do I use a 1394 input on a laptop?

I have a 2 port firewire cardBUS for my LAPTOP, but I did notice that there is a 1394 input as well. But problem is, it is the same input that is on my mini-dv camera end. So can I hook a DV cam to it? Is there a mini DV 1934 to minDV 1394 cord (or a 4pin to 4pin)? And if so, why would they make it that way for a laptop? It seems backwards!? Thanks

You can buy a 4 pin to 4 pin lead. There is no "in" or "out" on firewire, its a 2 way connection, so either end can be 4 or 6 pin

Ok thanks. Any places that sell them cheap?

You don't want a "cheap" FireWire cable.

However you can find them anywhere; in any retail store that sell electronics and computer or photo & video related goods. There's probably several within a short drive in your area.
