Electrical Adapter Question
 

I am going to Argentina for a few weeks and I would like to take my VX2000. What do I need for adapters for my battery charger to make them work? Thanks....

I did some shooting in Peru, and recharging was no problem for me. In Peru, and South America in general, they have a 220v power system. If your charger automatically switches from 110 to 220, which most will do now-a-days, then all you need is a little adapter that goes on the end of your electric plug that converts the flat prongs into two round prongs that will go into the wall socket. You can get one at Radio Shack for 4 or 5 bucks, I think.

You won't need anything except an adaptor so the plug will fit the wall outlet. Virtually all modern electronic equipment can adjust to the full range of voltage and frequency in different countries. I spent awhile in Argentina two years ago with my Z1, PowerBook and external hard drives. No problems whatsoever.

Of course you should be aware that Argentina is a PAL country, so you may not be able to watch your NTSC footage on a local TV set. You might also have some issues if you film under flourescent or discharge lamps since they will be flickering at 50hz.

You shouldn't have any problem finding adaptors at any office supply or computer store. Radio Shack also sold individual adaptors which I liked better than the "Swiss Army Knife" variety I saw in other stores.
