Looking for Collaborators for Kerouac docu-project

My idea is to have people across the country shoot footage related to Kerouac and hi snovel On the Road in their own unique way and, after editing it, combining it all. This would call for people in New York, Chicago, Colorado, California, New Orleans (for example). If it could be shot "Terrence Malick-style" it would be very cool.

Let me know what you think.

Also, you dont necessarily have to be a Jack Kerouac fan to participate, but having a unique take on the locale would be appreciable enough.

Contact me for more info, ideas, comments or suggestions.

Best, Paul Maher Jr.

Great project, I'd love to participate. Let's see what I can contribute from Berlin?

Hey Paul,

Being a fan of both Kerouac and Malick I would say that I am very interested. I am a DP/doc filmmaker based in the Bay Area. I am not a Myspacer so I can't post a message to you there. Please get in touch with me by this email:

Look forward to talking with you.

I may be revealing my ignorance and disqualifying myself for the project by asking this question but...what do you mean by "Terrence Malik style?" What about his style do you find appealing and would like to emulate?

How about YOUR style?

Thanks for your interest.

I'm somewhat new at this (documentary filmmaking) so I think my style is still developing. That's one reason I would want to be a part of your project if possible; so that I can develop, explore and grow.

Thus far I have been praised for my patience and persistence in getting to the "reality" of a situation...as near as one can get to reality with a camera present, that is. Unlike so-called "reality shows", I do not manipulate or otherwise interfere in the moment, though I may ask a question or interview my subject if I think it will yield anything productive.

Is this helping at all?

Here is my website. You can see a few examples of my work, although I must say that much of it is pretty standard videographer stuff at this point. Hoping that will change soon as I begin to explore more daring subject matter.

My best work has been done for my bodybuilding documentary series Raising the Bar. Here you can see a clip from the very soon to be released 2nd installment...

And here is where you can watch the trailer for RTB1...

I hope this helps.

I'd still be interested in knowing what about Malik's style excites you.
