Need another bit of advice about DV transfer equipment

What do you folks suggest about transfer mini dv images to computer without using the camera? What are the most reasonably priced decks or is there another option? I know film based stuff really well but this video biz is kind of new. Will take any and all advice. Peace!

I think the least expensive way to transfer MiniDV to a computer is by using a cheap MiniDV camera as a deck. I got a Samsung SCD80 at B&H for $339, and it works great. That way you don't risk damaging your more expensive camera. Other than that, I believe Panasonic makes a MiniDV deck that retails for $900, I think. Others here might chime in with more specifics.

If you just want to transfer footage to your computer, use a cheap MiniDV camera.

Roze, this is a frequently asked question here. Please use the search button in the upper right to research your questions first. If you can afford it buy a DV deck, if not get a small mini DV camera. Either way the quality will be the same. Digital is digital.
