Poor capture quality......Searched.

I searched and searched and found nothing. I'm capturing from my GL2 and the resolution is very low.
I first used Windows Moviemaker and when I saw that the final file was in the 320 by ??? range, I could not believe it. I went back to see if there was some adjustment or setting to increase the capture size, but none could be found. Have i missed something?

So now I'm capturing in Nero Ultra 6.0. The preview looks very poor. Yep, I'm new at this. Any suggestions or explinations?? I'm capturing in DV-1 in Nero.

Hi there,

Just choose the option 'other' in window movie maker... and then select DV-AVI(25 mb). You should then get the quality/resolution you are looking for... (720 X 480)...

That said,...i highly recommend getting Premiere Pro (or element) or Vegas. Those apps will give you much more adjustments than movie maker or neo could ever do...

And, don t trust the preview you get... normally it's just an 'approximation' of the footage.

Good luck,

Philippe

Thanks so much. Yep, that solves the problem.

Download WinDV. It's simpler and quite straightforward to use. Top quality capture with no hassle. It never failed with me.

You can get it here: http://windv.mourek.cz/

If you are just capturing with WMM and not doing any editing, you don't need to save the file. It's already on your hard drive. When you start capturing, you specify a location and name for the file. Once you have stopped capturing, you will find the captured file at the location you specified.

I've never had any problems capturing with WMM, such as dropped frames. Pretty much all capture software for DV using the same underlying OS code to do it, whether they're free or $$$$$.

Thanks Carlos... it is done. I'll sure use it.

Thanks John, I appreciate your detailed info. You have helped me even though I'm a complete novice with this. :-)
