Renaming AF100 files for Prelude

I've scoured the internet to find information about renaming AVCHD files so they can be recognized for purposes of edit. For instance: If I have done the third take of shot 4 of scene 12, how can I recognize that in an edit program like Prelude or PPro? If I could rename the C2SC12SH4TA3 I could then be able to organize my files for the timeline. And if this renaming was done at the end of each shooting day it would be easier to remember and find the correct files for renaming. Am I missing something here? Any suggestions would be helpful... thanks. Wouldn't it be nice if one could rename the files (or name them) in the camera:>)
