zoom speed

Am I right in saying that the zoom speed of the 150 is very very slow going from full wide to tight?

Gee is it really 3.2 seconds? That is mighty slow

Hi Martin,

Yes, the servo zoom is slow. I mainly use manual zoom to zoom in and get focus or to reframe the shot. I don't know what you are currently shooting with, but the manual zoom on the Sony Z1 is a little slower than the HMC150. The manual zoom on the Canon XH-A1 is a lot slower than the manual zoom of the HMC150.

The main time I use the servo is during the ceremony and special dances. Does your shooting style require you to use the servo or the manual zoom? I do like the fact that the manual zoom is a real physical zoom control where many other models are just an electronic control of the zoom ring.

Great review. BTW I play keyboards but one of my fav bass players it Marcus Miller too.

Is there a tutorial DVD explaining the different parts of Panasonic AG HMC 150 and what it means and how to use it? Yes I know there is an operating instruction on this camera, but I'd like to see a tutorial video explaining how to use this camera?

Hi Melvin,

Barry Green has an excellent book on the HMC 150. I considered making a DVD tutorial, but did not know if it would be a good investment of my time. Do you have a specific question that the Von Real episodes did not answer?
