HMC150 footage mixed with SD
 

I currently shoot with 2 fx1000s in 16:9 SD, and now with the HMC150 added into the mix
I have to decide what to do with the footage.

I am deliberately trying to avoid shooting in HD with the Sonys for good reason: I edit all my own weddings and am trying to keep my processing time to a minimum. I currently already have a backlog of wedding videos, and the processing time for the HD kills me. I do understand the advantages in shooting HD, and have already done so, but I do not feel the benefits are worth the extra time yet. I have four weddings coming up in two weekends, so I am uptight about keeping my workflow as quick as possible.

My first thought in answer to my own question is to use upshift to create proxies for the HMC150 footage, then edit the mixed footage and render to standard widescreen.

You could look at a product by Decklink. Its captures HDMI and analog. If you do HDMI from the camera you could capture in 525 29.97 NTSC. No deck control but at least you would be closer to your native editing format. You would have to consider the time of rendering versus the time capturing to see if there's any benefit.

Another scenario outside the box is switching the event live. You can get a pretty good SD switcher cheap. Still run tape backups in the cameras but at the end of the day you would already have a rough cut of the ceremony.

There are many analog to DV converters. You even have one in your FX1000. I would just capture to DV from the composite ports on the HMC.
