Turn Off HDC-TM700 On Screen Messages?

I'm exploring using this camera to film sports from a stable location on a tripod, recording both to the internal hard drive as well as feeding the video into a DVD recorder to have a DVD of the event ready after the game. This is done using the AV Out port, feeding via RCA into the DVD Recorder. The issue I'm running into is that every time I hit record on the camera, both to start and stop recording, a message appears on the screen to say either "Recording" or "Paused". I have looked through the manual and experimented to get this turned off, but have so far been unsuccessful. You can use the remote to turn off Ext Display, which removes all the other LCD objects from an external display, but these messages still appear. Does anyone know if it is even possible to remove these?

Well, talked to Panasonic and they seemed to indicate that it was not possible to remove the messages from the external output. That's a shame, that I'm going to have to send this camcorder back for what is such a minor issue. This is the first camcorder that I have owned that does not give you a clear screen if you so choose on the external display. Everything else about it is great, sans that one issue.

I'd still appreciate any input if someone here knows better than the tech I talked to, but for now I'm thinking I can't use this camcorder.

I'm just researching this camera, so sorry but I can't help.

Sorry for the dumb question but I'm curious, can't you turn the menus off completely so there not on the camera's display?

You can turn off all the menus, but the messages that let you know you started the recording and paused it still come up both on the LCD display and external displays. That's what's so crazy about it. When I talked to a rep at Panasonic, he indicated to me that every single camcorder from their consumer line has these messages.
