HMC40 interlaced video size

Hi Guys

I'm a little embarrased as to not noticing this before but after shooting with the HMC70 in all interlaced modes ...SonyVegas has always reported my video as being 1440x1080, PAR1.333 and Upper Field first and I have set project properties in the NLE to 1440x1080 50i

On my HMC80's I have only just noticed that the videos in ALL interlaced modes are NOT 1440x1080 but in fact 1920x1080 so the PAR is now 1 (Square Pixel)

Could anyone with an HMC40 (or 80) tell me if their cams in interlaced mode also now produce a 1920x1080 frame as opposed to the 70's older 1440x1080 frame with a PAR of 1.333 ??????

So, do the HMC40's in 50/60i mode also produce a square pixel image or not????

Chris

Hey Chris,

I just checked this out to make sure, it is indeed 1920x1080 when shooting 50i, with a PAR of 1. See attachment for proof, I had to make sure I wasn't dreaming it!

(Edit: this is of course form the HMC41, just for reference)

Re: HMC40 interlaced video size

Thanks Mike

I had to ask someone as I suddenly saw the 1920x1080 on my preview monitor.

Darn!! That means that in Sony Vegas the encoder will actually do a poorer job rendering to SD than with the HDV file ..the 1.333 PAR and the PAL SD PAR are reasonably close but now there is a HUGE difference.

I'd love to find a decent solution to get pristine DVD's without lots of effort!!!! I actually transcode the MTS file to M2t HDV using NewBlue Upshift so my little DuoCore can handle the files BUT it still keeps them as 1920x1080 square pixels!!!

The confirmation is much appreciated

Chris
